Genevieve Nnaji Biography- Genevieve Nnaji is a profound Nigerian actress, model and a philantropist. Words can’t explain how influential she has made herself on upcoming actresses. Early life and education

Genevieve Nnaji Biography won’t be complete if we don’t talk about her personal early life. Genevieve Nnaji is from Mbaise in Imo state. News have it that Nnaji was born in Mbaise but grew up in Lagos where she started her illustrious movie career. Genevieve Nnaji is the fourth child of eight children. She attended Methodist Girls College (Yaba, Lagos). Though her parents where relatively a middle class one who actually where not rich but where very much okay and this made up the reason she was brought up in a middle class environment. Her father Mr Nnaji was an engineer and her mother as a nursery teacher. She attended the famous University of Lagos where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in creative arts and while she was at the university, Genevieve Nnaji began auditioning for acting jobs in Nollywood and finally landed herself some leading roles.


Genevieve Nnaji in 2004 signed a recording contract with a Ghanaian record label company called EKB Records, and her first debut album was released “One Logologo Line” which was a mix of R&B, Hip-Hop and Urban music. Though it never made the headlines at all. Acoording to “I go dye” it sold only three copies.

It was In 1998 when she was aged 19 she was introduced into the then growing Nigerian film industry. And she starred in the movie tittled “Most Wanted” along side Reginald Askia. Later on she would star in other movies like Last Party, Mark of the Beast and Ijele etc. Then in 2010 Genevieve Nnaji featured in an award winning movie titled Ijé: “The Journey”.

Genevieve Nnaji as it where, has been considered to be one of the best actresses the Nollywood industry have ever produced and trust me, on forbes list, she is one of the highest paid actresses in Nollywood. In 2001, Genevieve Nnaji, was awarded the Best Actress at the 2001 City Peoples Awards, the award ceremony that previously had only recognized politicians and business conglomerates. And she was the first Nollywood person to have won that award. And in 2003 she went on to become the first actress to be awarded as Best Actress by the Census Board of Nigeria. In 2009, Oprah Winfrey the world’s richest woman on earth referred to Genevieve Nnaji as the Julia Roberts of Africa.

Knowing fully well that music was not her thing decided to fall back to her acting career and in November 2015 she produced her first movie tittled Road to Yesterday which would go on to winning Best Movie Overall-West Africa at the 2016 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.


In 2004, she was signed a highly lucrative sponsorship deal with Lux to be their ambassador for a year for the sum of 3 million naira and she has also featured in lots commercials. These includes Pronto beverage and Omo detergent. Genevieve Nnaji launched her clothin line in 2008 “St. Genevieve”, which proceeds where donated to charity. She has an illustrous movie, modelling etc career and it didn’t just end where i ended the list because Genevieve Nnaji in May of 2010 Nnaji was appointed the official “Face of MUD” in Nigeria.
